Street, from corner of 100 and 200 block of Smith, to South Street,
overlooking Route 9
* Update from the Mayor and Community Policing on Simpson and Bay Street
fire-torn home, after request on status
* From Cooper the Cat: "I want a new home and NOT to go the SPCA, and yes,
people do say I resemble Gary Cooper. See my photo attached."
* From Buddha Bongar: "Don't forget, this Sat 10 am, Visit Santa at the
Peekskill Dog Park and get your photo taken with the jolly dog soul!"
* THE COVE Federal Law Suit: update coming soon but on email without City
Admin and officials
* Tentative Westside Neighborhood Assn meeting: Wed Dec 18th at 7 pm
UPDATE:
*Public Hearing
Tuesday evening, the 8th, 7:30 pm at City Hall, proposed plans for 3
2-family units on Grove Street -- please let your neighbors know, who may
not get email, about the hearing too. Plans are also available at City Hall
for viewing and input.
*Update on Simpson and Bay Street home
Below are responses I received from the Mayor and Lt Cathy Johansen when
requesting information on the status of the eye-sore on the corner.
From the Mayor:
"The city received a legal action by Ms. Marsh citing harassment, racism and
claiming that we have prohibited her from living in her home. The city is in
the midst of responding to her claims so there isn't more information that I
can share with you at this time." Mayor Foster
(Prince Marsh, who previously lived at this residence, was part of the
recent drug bust by the US Attorney's office and Peekskill Police.)
From Lt. Cathy Johansen, in response to my question of status, and what we
can say to neighborhood:
"Yes the arson investigation is still open the insurance company is in
contact with detectives (right up through yesterday) and are attempting to
resolve the situation with the house asap. These types of claims do take a
long time (it is not uncommon for it to go on for many months). As to
saying anything to the Neighborhood Association nothing you say is going
to make them (neighbors) happy about the situation as it stands but
everything that can be done is being done. Sorry news isn¹t better but it
is still ongoing. "
*Cove Lawsuit
Separate email but there is a telephone conference hearing December 18, 2009
at 9:30 am.
* Tentative Westside Neighborhood Assn meeting: Wed Dec 18th at 7 pm
We are still finding/deciding location for this.
I will email a list of recent and ongoing issues and concerns of neighbors
regardless.
Thanks,
Tina Volz-Bongar
